Aulick Manufacturing Day

By Randy Hiemstra

On Wednesday, October 4th, a cadre of Hyannis Area Schools students made their way to Scottsbluff to take part in Aulick Industries Manufacturing Day.  Aulick Manufacturing is a multi-faceted industry established in 1952 that employs over 140 full-time workers in their Scottsbluff locations.  The purpose of this event was to serve as an educational opportunity through a video presentation, a tour of facilities conducted by the Human Resources manager, and a competition assembling a grain gate by teams from each school.  The students were apprised of career and job opportunities offered by Aulick Industries, as well as information and tips on applying and interviewing for positions within the company.

Students participating in this event included Max Leth, Kade Olson, Kadon Woerner, Trey Brown, Chase Huffman, and Zach Spencer.  The guys participated in the grain gate assembly competition forming two groups of 3 during the morning session and after lunch provided by the hosts took a tour of the complex.  Areas of employment included sales, manufacturing, assembling products, sandblasting, painting, plasma welding, computerized lathe work, and general maintenance and groundskeeping.

Mr. Tim Davis served as an advisor for the group and Mr. Randy Hiemstra sponsored the trip.
